The Sacrament of Penance is also known as Confession or Reconciliation. It is during this Sacrament that we reconcile with God or others. Confession gives us a new beginning in the spiritual life. The more often we go to Confession the more often we renew our struggle and the more quickly we grow in holiness. For all these reasons, the Sacrament of Reconciliation is truly one of the greatest treasures of the Church.
Children in Year 3 are prepared for their First Reconciliation by their teachers in the school or by the Catechists in the Sacramental programme.
At the beginning of the school year, parents are informed about the intended programme. Notices are placed in the Bulletin and in the school newsletter.
Parents are required to bring their children along to Mass during this time as information is dispersed and enrolment procedures are undertaken. Parents need to complete the enrolment and family details form and return this to the school or Catechism programme.
A copy of the child’s Baptism Certificate is required for all enrolments. When this is completed, children will commence the Sacramental programme.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available after the morning weekday Masses and again on Saturday afternoon from 5 pm to 6 pm prior to the vigil Mass.
