Ministries > St. Vincent de Paul
The Mission of the Society centres on the compassion of Jesus Christ, whose sympathy, gentleness and concern for the poor and disadvantaged is an inspiration for us all. Our Mission will be lived out by the way we work with the poor, irrespective of race, colour, creed or status.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul was established in WA in 1865 and has over 2,500 members and volunteers who help in many ways including accommodation and care for people with mental health issues, support and care for street present youth, educational and recreational programs for disadvantaged children, back to school support, migrand and refugee support and Vinnies clothing and furniture depots and centres that assist with welfare and household support.
The Good Shepherd Parish has a Conference trying to live the Mission of the Society. Our numbers are few, but the spirit is willing. If you would like to be involved in helping people as above but on a local level, we would love to hear from you.
